The objective of the study was to analyze the differences between a group of overweight adults and a non-overweight group in reward sensitivity and eating pattems ( emotional, extemal and restrained) and their relationship to reactivity to appetizing food images (high in fat and/or sugars). The results showed that the overweight group scored higher on reward sensitivity as well as on pattems of extemal and emotional eating behavior. In tum, they showed a higher subjective sensation of hunger after visualization of appetizing foods, which correlated with their score in the pattem of extemal eating behavior. Sensitivity to reward and score in the pattem of emotional intake were also correlated in the overweight group. The continuous exposure to food signals in which we currently are makes it necessary to go deeper into these variables in arder to develop treatments that include new strategies to deal with these situations.
