This Final Project contains the results of a study of one aspect of Viking society, the existence of warrior women or shield-maidens, both in real life and in the series Vikings. We can also find here a general view of this society and its main characteristics. One of the primary bases of the project lies in the evidence from those in real life, ordered in different sections according to their topic. Fiction literature examples as well as historical sources are exposed in order to demonstrate the presence of those figures. Moreover, some of the most relevant archaeological discoveries support this theory. The second phase of the project contains the exposition of the different female characters that appear in the series TV-Vikings, not only the shield-maidens but also some other women who are important. As we are considering two realities, one belongs to a historical reality while the order is fiction, it is possible to find clear differences. For instance, nowadays we are not able to assure or to affirm the existence of those warrior women or their relevance in Viking Age, as we do not have enough reliable pieces of evidence to demonstrate it.
