During this final degree project, we will examine the various laws relating to the abolition of slavery and the slave trade, beginning with international treaties and the abolitionist penal law of 1837 at the beginning of the 19th century and ending with the laws of 1873 and 1880 that abolished slavery in the overseas territories. As we will observe throughout this final degree project, the stage and period encompassing the abolitionist movement was characterized by a difficult and laborious period in achieving the abolition of slavery, with many ups and downs regarding freedom of the press, which we will analyze in due course.
