Animación contra el estigma de la enfermedad mental

Abstract

La representación que se ha hecho de la enfermedad mental en los medios audiovisuales a lo largo del tiempo ha tenido un efecto desfavorable en cómo son percibidas actualmente las enfermedades mentales. Al mostrar a quienes las sufren como sujetos de los que burlarse como en las comedias, o, por el contrario, como individuos agresivos y peligrosos en el cine de terror. Esta visión de la enfermedad mental es uno de los factores que mantienen la estigmatización hacia aquellos que las padecen, las personas cercanas y a los psicólogos y psiquiatras. Pero si las malas representaciones que se han realizado pueden causar la estigmatización, una representación realista podría eliminar esos estereotipos. A lo largo del siguiente documento se mostrará la relación entre la estigmatización de la salud mental y la representación de estos en los medios audiovisuales, y como estos, concretamente la animación puede ser utilizados para eliminar los estigmas.

The representation that has been made of mental illness in the audiovisual media over time has had an unfavorable effect on how mental illnesses are currently perceived. By showing those who suffer from them as subjects to be mocked as in comedies, or, on the contrary, as aggressive and dangerous individuals in horror films. This vision of mental illness is one of the factors that maintains the stigmatization of those who suffer from it, those close to them, and psychologists and psychiatrists. But if the misrepresentations that have been made can cause stigmatization, a realistic representation could eliminate those stereotypes. Throughout the following document, the relationship between the stigmatization of mental health and the representation of these in the audiovisual media is shown, and how these, specifically animation, can be used to eliminate stigmas.
