Parto domiciliario: recuperando una forma de asistencia al parto

Abstract

Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica con el objetivo de conocer los riesgos y beneficios del parto domiciliario. Se analizaron treinta y tres estudios entre noviembre de 2015 y febrero de 2016 e indicaron que el parto domiciliario se asocia con altas tasas de parto vaginal y bajas tasas de intervenciones obstétricas sin que se produzca un aumento de los resultados maternos adversos; sin embargo en cuanto a los resultados neonatales existen controversias y se necesitan más estudios para dilucidar los resultados. Además genera gran satisfacción entre las parejas que lo eligen, las cuales son jóvenes, con estabilidad laboral, relaciones estables, y estudios superiores que hacen que la decisión sea informada. Se concluyó que no existe una base sólida para desaconsejar el parto domiciliario en mujeres de bajo riesgo siempre que haya matronas bien entrenadas y un buen sistema de transporte y referencia.

A bibliographic revision has been made with the aim of knowing the risks and benefits of the home childbirth. Thirty-three studies were analyzed between November 2015 and February 2016 and they showed that the home delivery was associated to high rates of vaginal birth and low rates of obstetrical interventions without increasing unfavourable maternal results; however, as for neonatal results, there are controversies and further studies will be needed to elucidate those results. In addition to that, it creates great satisfaction among the couples who choose it, being them young ones, with job stability, stable relationships and higher education that allows them to have an informed decision. It has been concluded that there is no solid base to advise against home delivery in low risk women provided that there are well trained midwives and a good system of transport and reference.
