Crecimiento postraumático en sobrevivientes de cáncer de mama. Una revisión sistemática

Abstract

Las sobrevivientes de cáncer de mama reportan consecuencias psicológicas tanto negativas como positivas, el objetivo del presente trabajo es realizar una revisión sistemática sobre el crecimiento postraumático en sobrevivientes de cáncer de mama y así conocer el proceso de adaptación al cáncer de mama y aquellas condiciones que influyen en éste. La revisión sistemática se ha realizado a través de tres bases de datos científicas, mediante las que en base a unos criterios de inclusión y exclusión se han seleccionado los artículos. Los resultados muestran cómo el cáncer de mama influye de manera positiva en el futuro en un gran porcentaje de este grupo de la población y cómo median diversos factores en el desarrollo del crecimiento postraumático. Conclusiones: el cáncer de mama afecta negativamente en la vida de las personas que lo padecen, pudiendo llegar a ser incapacitante. No obstante, se ha visto que para experimentar crecimiento postraumático se necesita haber pasado antes por estos efectos negativos, existiendo intervenciones que promueven este crecimiento postraumático y así la calidad de vida tanto en aquellas personas más vulnerables de experimentarlo como en aquellas otras que no son tan vulnerables.

Breast cancer survivors report both negative and positive psychological consequences. The objective of this paper is to conduct a systematic review of post-traumatic growth in breast cancer survivors and thus understand the process of adaptation to breast cancer and the conditions that influence it. The systematic review was conducted using three scientific databases, from which articles were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results show how breast cancer positively influences the future of a large percentage of this population group and how various factors mediate the development of post-traumatic growth. Conclusions: Breast cancer negatively affects the lives of those who suffer from it, and can be disabling. However, it has been shown that to experience post-traumatic growth, one must have previously experienced these negative effects. There are interventions that promote this post-traumatic growth and thus the quality of life in both those most vulnerable to experiencing it and those who are not as vulnerable.
