The objective pursued is, on the one hand, to study how it has evolved productivity of the service sector and branches that comprise it; on the other hand, to establish a classification of the different branches of the service sector in terms of dynamism in productivity, output and employment (hours worked) and, finally, a comparative analysis with the whole of the European Union. Some of the results that have been obtained comes to finding some of the conclusions that have been obtained by other studies before. Among them we highlight the lower productivity of the service sector or that its lower growth is explained in the Spanish case, in part, by the low intensity of physical, human and technological capital.
