Estudio del SL y la EA: en busca del sustrato neuroanatómico en la Terapia de Reminiscencia.

Abstract

La Enfermedad de Alzheimer es una patología neurodegenerativa. Actualmente es la demencia más común en sociedades con mayor esperanza de vida. Su evolución y sus síntomas son muy conocidos. Aunque su etiología actualmente es desconocida, se sabe que una gran cantidad de genes están implicados y presenta manifestaciones biológicas tanto microscópicas como macroscópicas a nivel cerebral temporomedial, comprendiendo al Sistema Límbico. En lo que concierne a su tratamiento en los últimos tiempos, han ido ganando terreno los del tipo no farmacológicos y en especial la rehabilitación de carácter neuropsicológico. Una de las terapias más utilizadas que reporta beneficios cognitivos, conductuales, funcionales y sociales es la Terapia de Reminiscencia, la cual usa como modo de estimulación la memoria autobiográfica, dependiente del hipocampo, situado en el Sistema Límbico. Por lo que cabe preguntarse si dicha terapia reporta cambios y beneficios a nivel estructural en el Sistema LímbicoAlzheimer’s disease is a type of neurodegenerative disease. Currently, it is the most common dementia in societies when life expectancy has increased. Its evolution is well knows and its wide range of symptomatology too. Although its etiology are not clear, is it a well-known fact that multiples genes are implicated and have biological manifestation, both microscopically and macroscopically, in the temporemedial level, including the Limbic System. Recently, as far as treatment goes, the non-pharmacologic treatments have increased specially the neuropsychological rehabilitation. The most common therapy that report cognitive, behavioral, functional and social benefit is the Reminiscence Therapy, which uses the autobiography memory, dependent of hippocampus, situated in Limbic System, for stimulation. Owing to this, it is possible to questions whether the Reminiscence Therapy produces changes and benefits in the Limbic System structures.
