¡Caray con Garay!. Una situación de aprendizaje sobre el compositor Ramón Garay

Abstract

El presente Trabajo Fin de Máster se centra en la figura de Ramón Garay (1761-1823), maestro de capilla en la Catedral de Jaén en el tránsito del siglo XVIII al XIX, y su proyección didáctica en el aula de Secundaria. Destacado por ser uno de los pocos músicos españoles de esa época con 10 sinfonías, el paso de los años le ha sepultado en el olvido. Con motivo del bicentenario de su fallecimiento en este curso académico 2022/23, este trabajo pretende reivindicar su figura y darla a conocer entre el alumnado mediante una situación de aprendizaje para 3º de ESO. A través de ella, los alumnos podrán descubrir quién fue este compositor y cómo se desarrolló musicalmente en su Catedral, destacando la importancia que tiene conocer el legado musical de su ciudad. Así mismo conocerán su obra de primera mano, mediante el arreglo para pequeña percusión de una de las melodías de su sinfonía n.o 4.

This Master thesis study focuses on the figure of Ramón Garay (1761-1823), the chapel master at the Cathedral of Jaén in the transition from the 18th to the 19th century, and his didactic projection in Secondary school classrooms. Notable for being one of the few Spanish musicians of that era with ten symphonies, the passage of time has buried him in obscurity. On the occasion of the bicentenary of his death in the current academic year 2022/23, this work aims to reclaim his figure and introduce him to students through a learning situation designed for 3rd year of ESO (Educación Secundaria Obligatoria, or Compulsory Secondary Education in Spain). Through this, students will discover who this composer was and how he developed musically in the Cathedral of Jaén, emphasizing the importance of knowing the musical legacy of their city. They will also become familiar with his work firsthand, through the arrangement for small percussion of one of the melodies from his Symphony No. 4.
