The present work consists in a didactic unit elaborated for the Teaching Master’s degree in the University of Jaén. It is, therefore, the culmination of the training received to become a Secondary Education teacher. The structure follows the common pattern of the dissertation of a university, where a literature review is needed to support the consequent set of exercise and activities with which the teacher intends to make the students acquire the key competences and knowledge they need for their adult life. The choice of word formation as its grammar focus has been influenced by its importance to the resourcefulness on the part of the English language learners in terms of vocabulary, that is to enable students to find more words to express themselves, and my personal opinion that this is a neglected aspect when it comes to teaching English.
