Efectividad de la fisioterapia en el tratamiento de la cefalea tensional. Una revisión sistematica

Abstract

Objetivo: identificar, evaluar de forma crítica y reunir las principales evidencias actuales disponibles sobre la eficacia de la fisioterapia en pacientes diagnosticados de cefalea tensional. Materiales y métodos: se realizó una búsqueda en las bases de datos PEDro, SCOPUS y PUBMED. En esta revisión solo fueron incluidos artículos en español e inglés, con pacientes de cualquier edad y sexo, diagnosticados de cefalea tensional. Resultados: Tras la localización de 1407 artículos, finalmente se analizaron 8 atendiendo a los criterios de inclusión y exclusión, y se clasificaron en tres grupos según el tipo de intervención fisioterápica aplicada: la electroacupuntura, la terapia manual y el tratamiento de puntos gatillo. Conclusión: se encontró evidencia limitada de la efectividad de la electroacupuntura en la cefalea tensional, evidencia sólida de la terapia manual en el abordaje de la cefalea tensional y evidencia moderada del tratamiento de puntos gatillo para la disminución de dicha patología.

Objective: Identify, assess critically and gather main evidences currently available on the effectiveness of physiotherapy in patients diagnosed with tension headache. Material and method: A literature search in PEDro, SCOPUS y PUBMED databases with the keywords ‘’Headache tension’’, ‘’Physiotherapy’’, ‘’Manual therapy’’ y ‘’Physical therapy’’ was performed. Clinical trials in Spanish or English, with patients of any sex or age, diagnosed with tension headache were included in this review. The methodological quality of the studies was assessed with the scales PEDro and Jadad. Results: After the revision and localization of 1407 articles, finally 8 of them were analysed according to the criteria of inclusion and exclusion. All of them were classified into three groups according to the type of physiotherapy intervention applied using the following procedures: electroacupuncture, manual therapy and tigger points. Conclusions: This systematic review found limited evidence of the effectiveness of electroacupuncture in headache tension, solid evidence of the effectiveness of manual therapy in the treatment of headache tension and moderate evidence of the effectiveness of the treatment of tigger points in order to solve this pathology.
