Relación entre expresión artística y psicopatología en la pintura de Vincent van Gogh

Abstract

El objetivo principal del presente Trabajo Fin de Grado (TFG) es analizar la evolución psicopatológica del pintor Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) a través de su expresión artística. Para dar respuesta al objetivo propuesto, se realizó una revisión bibliográfica sistemática a través de las principales bases de datos, incluyendo un recorrido histórico por la biografía del pintor y por las numerosas hipótesis que plantean diversos diagnósticos sobre su enfermedad. Tras el análisis de los artículos seleccionados, se afirma la presencia de una clara patología en el pintor, sin embargo, se muestra complicado unificar la sintomatología de su enfermedad en un único trastorno. Así, después de revisar la producción artística de Vincent, se concluye la existencia de una evidente relación entre la evolución de su patología y la producción de sus obras.

The main objective of this Final Degree Project is to analyze the psychopathological evolution of the painter Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) through his artistic expression. To give an answer to the proposed objective, a systematic bibliographic review was carried out through the main databases, including a historical overview of the painter's biography and the numerous hypotheses that suggest various diagnoses about his disease. After the analysis of the selected articles, the existence of a clear pathology in the painter is affirmed, although it is difficult to unify the symptoms of his disease into a single disorder. Thus, after reviewing Vincent's artistic production, the existence of an evident relationship between the evolution of his pathology and the production of his works is concluded.
