English Teaching to People with Hearing Aids at High School Levels

Abstract

Las personas con pérdida auditiva son aquellas que no pueden escuchar de la misma manera que otras personas porque sus umbrales auditivos están por debajo de 25dB. Cuando los profesores trabajan en institutos, existe la posibilidad de que se encuentren con este tipo de estudiantes, de modo que el objetivo principal de este proyecto es proponer un modelo de enseñanza del inglés en el que se incluyan a personas con audífonos. Para conseguir esto, los docentes deben tener en cuenta las deficiencias de este tipo de estudiantes para hacer las adaptaciones apropiadas y apoyar su enseñanza con el uso de ayudas visuales y tecnológicas. Además, se debería implementar un aprendizaje basado en tareas para que los estudiantes realicen actividades significativas y estén expuestos a la lengua inglesa.

People with hearing loss are those who cannot listen in the same way as other people due to the fact that their hearing thresholds are below 25dB. When teachers work at high school levels there is a possibility that they work with these kind of students, so that the main objective of this project is to propose a model for teaching English in which people with hearing aids are included. To achieve this, teachers have to take into account the deficiencies of these kind of students to make the appropriate adaptations to them and to support their teaching with the use of visual and technological aids. Moreover, they would have to implement a task-based learning for the students being involved in meaningful tasks and to be exposed to the English language.
