Women diagnosed with breast cancer have to undergo a surgical intervention to remove the tumor, and after these operations the postmastectomy pain syndrome usually appears. This chronic pain also causes a set of psychological symptoms such as anxiety, depression, catastrophist thoughts and stress. The treatment tends to focus on the physiological aspects of chronic pain, given medication to reduce chronic pain and psychological aspects are rarely paid attention to. This systematic review pretends to analyse the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioural therapy in reducing chronic pain and improving psychological well-being in these women. The results of these articles show that cognitive-behavioural therapy decreases chronic pain and improves psychological well-being in women with breast cancer. In addition, cognitive-behavioural therapy applied online is just as effective.
