Historia contemporánea de la minería española. Políticas económicas, conflictividad social y dimensión ambiental entre el siglo XIX y el primer tercio del siglo XX.

Abstract

Entre el siglo XIX y el primer tercio del siglo XX asistimos a dos hechos que marcaran la historia contemporánea española: la implantación del liberalismo y la llegada del movimiento obrero. Ambas van a afectar al sector minero, uno de los sectores más importantes sobre los que se va a sustentar la famosa revolución industrial. La minería pondrá de manifiesto varios debates, como la pugna entre los intereses locales y extranjeros, la pertenencia de la propiedad, la mejora de condiciones laborales y la preocupación medioambiental. Los mineros serán los principales damnificados en todos estos debates, siendo protagonistas de varios conflictos.

Between the 19th century and the first third of the 20th century, we witnessed two events that would mark contemporary Spanish history: the establishment of liberalism and the rise of the labor movement. Both will affect the mining sector, one of the most important sectors on which the famous industrial revolution will be based. Mining will highlight several debates, such as the struggle between local and foreign interests, ownership of property, improved working conditions, and environmental concerns. Miners will be the main victims of all these debates, being protagonists of several conflicts.
