Covid-19’s impact on the digitalisation of the education system: the application of mobile phones in the english language classroom

Resumen
[ES] Las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación (TIC) se han integrado progresivamente en el ámbito educativo en los últimos años. Sin embargo, este proceso de digitalización se ha acelerado bruscamente en los centros educativos debido a la pandemia de Covid-19, transformando por completo el proceso de enseñanza y aprendizaje. Como consecuencia, los centros han tenido que ser equipados digitalmente y todo el profesorado ha empezado a aplicar las TIC en las aulas. Además, las TIC
están desempeñando actualmente un papel muy importante en la enseñanza del inglés como lengua extranjera, siendo el teléfono móvil uno de los dispositivos electrónicos más utilizados. Por ello, en este proyecto se pretende analizar el impacto del Covid-19 en la digitalización del sistema educativo y, más concretamente, se explorará la implantación de las TIC en el aula de inglés y el uso del móvil para el aprendizaje de la lengua inglesa. Tras la realización de esta investigación, se desarrollará una unidad didáctica basada en la aplicación de los teléfonos móviles en la clase de inglés.
[EN] Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has been progressively integrated into the educational field in recent years. Nonetheless, this process of digitalisation has abruptly accelerated in the educational centres due to the Covid-19 pandemic, completely transforming the teaching and learning process. As a result, schools have had to be digitally equipped and teachers have started to implement ICT in the classrooms. Moreover, ICT is currently playing a very significant role in teaching English as a foreign language, with the mobile phone being one of the most widely used electronic devices. Therefore, this project is intended to analyse the impact that Covid-19 has had on digitalisation in the education system and more specifically, the implementation of ICT in the English classroom, together with the use of mobile phones for English language learning. After carrying out this research, a didactic unit will be developed based on the application of mobile phones in the English class.
