Relación entre variables de personalidad y conductas sexuales de riesgo en universitarios españoles

Resumen
Las conductas sexuales de riesgo son un problema para los jóvenes españoles a causa de la multitud de consecuencias que conllevan, fundamentalmente las relacionadas con embarazo no deseado y enfermedades de trasmisión sexual. El objetivo de nuestro estudio es comprobar si existen relaciones entre la personalidad y las conductas sexuales de riesgo. Nuestra muestra está compuesta por 264 universitarios, 193 mujeres y 71 hombres, procedentes de diferentes universidades españolas, aunque la mayor parte estudia en la Universidad de Jaén. Los resultados señalan que existe relación entre el Neuroticismo, la Apertura Mental, la baja Amabilidad, la baja Responsabilidad y la Búsqueda de Sensaciones con las conductas sexuales de riesgo. No se encontraron relaciones entre la Extraversión y la conducta sexual de riesgo y, con respecto al Optimismo, los resultados encontrados son contradictorios. Además, tanto la edad como el género, sobre todo en hombres, se relacionan con las conductas sexuales de riesgo.
Sexual risk behaviours are a problem for the young Spanish people due to the multitude of consequences they entail, mainly those related to unwanted pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. The aim of our study is to check if there is a relationship between some elements of the personality and risky sexual behaviours, in order to be aware of what is what leads people to carry out such behaviours. Our sample is composed of 264 university students, 193 women and 71 men, from different Spanish universities, although the majority study at the University of Jaen. There results indicate that there is a relationship between Neuroticism, Mental Openness, low Agreeableness, low Conscientiousness and Sensation Seeking, with risky sexual behaviour. No relation was found between the Extraversion and the risky sexual behaviour; Regarding Optimism, the results found are contradictory.
