Resumen
El ritmo de vida actual ha provocado un cambio en los hábitos alimenticios a favor de una alimentación más rápida y preparada, lo que conlleva un aumento de las enfermedades de tipo metabólico como la diabetes, que en 2010 alcanzó los 285 millones de afectados en el mundo y se espera un crecimiento desorbitado de esta cifra. Es por ello, que el profesional de enfermería debe proporcionar las directrices para que el paciente tenga el mayor conocimiento de la materia posible, con el fin de que los efectos negativos sean mínimos. Es imprescindible actuar a través de un consejo dietético que proporcione al paciente conocimientos de los alimentos más saludables para su dieta y que le proporcionen mejores ventajas frente a su enfermedad. También es necesario insistir en un cambio de estilo de vida junto con la realización de actividad física diaria.
