The purpose of this work is to create an informative document in the form of a review that serves as a guide on essential concepts necessary for the use of intravenous catheters (IVCs). This work arises from observing, throughout my nursing degree, that the use of this type of access in Andalusia is practically nonexistent. The study focuses on four different objectives, established after consulting all the bibliography included in this final degree project (TFG) and all other relevant literature that, although not explicitly included, has been read. Based on these articles, a literature review will be created which, as will be explained in the following sections, demonstrates numerous advantages of using IVCs compared to more traditional methods such as venous access.
