Cognitive-Behavioral therapies are currently the gold standard in therapy, but scientific evidence indicates that third-wave approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), are also effective for treating Social Anxiety Disorder. A systematic review of the existing literature on this topic was conducted. Sixteen randomized controlled trials, published between 2000 and 2018, were included, with a total sample of 992 individuals. The primary objective was to identify the effectiveness of ACT as a therapeutic approach for Social Anxiety Disorder, with the secondary objective of identifying the factors that contribute to this therapeutic change.
