The death of a son or daughter as a result of cancer can lead to complicated grief in parents. The objective of this study was to analyze the factors that influence grief in general, determining which ones promote the development of normal grief. To this end, a systematic review of empirical studies on this topic was conducted. It is concluded that the empirically proven factors that influence the grieving process are: family resilience, social support, and the use of palliative care for children with cancer as a method to reduce symptoms caused by the disease in its final stages. Therefore, it is necessary to address these issues when carrying out interventions with grieving parents, as well as to participate in the creation of programs to prevent complicated grief resulting from similar situations.
