Objective: To gather the most relevant scientific evidence to determine the effectiveness of physiotherapy in the treatment of whiplash syndrome (WSS). Materials and methods: A bibliographic search for randomized controlled clinical trials was conducted in the Medline, PEDro, and WOS databases using Whiplash, Physiotherapy, and Physical therapy, all MeSH terms, as descriptors, published from 2010 to the present. Their quality was assessed using the PEDro and Jadad scales. Ten articles were required to conduct the systematic review. Results: Of a total of 1,105 articles found, 10 were analyzed after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria and eliminating duplicates. The application of physiotherapy and complementary therapy techniques improves pain, joint mobility, degree of disability based on pain, as well as quality of life. Conclusion: The effectiveness of physiotherapy, exercise, and complementary therapy programs, as well as the help of other healthcare professionals, in the treatment of CRS is demonstrated. However, further research is needed to obtain more evidence.
