La lumbalgia es el dolor localizado entre el borde inferior de las últimas costillas y el pliegue inferior glúteo, con irradiación o no a extremidades inferiores(1). Según Jarvik y Deyo, el dolor en la región lumbar tiene una alta prevalencia en los países industrializados, y afecta en la edad adulta en algún momento. Además es la lesión musculoesquelética y la causa más común de discapacidad
Low back pain (lumbalgia) is pain located between the lower edge of the last ribs and the lower gluteal fold, with or without radiation to the lower extremities (1). According to Jarvik and Deyo, pain in the lumbar region has a high prevalence in industrialized countries and affects people at some point in their adult lives. Furthermore, it is the most common musculoskeletal injury and cause of disability.
