Efectos positivos del Yoga y su relación con el bienestar subjetivo y la felicidad

Resumen
El yoga es una disciplina antiquísima proveniente de la India en la que se trabaja con la mente y el cuerpo a través de posturas físicas, técnicas de respiración, relajación, meditación, entre otros. Debido a que el yoga está expandiéndose por todo el mundo y son muchos los que afirman sus efectos positivos en la salud, en este trabajo se recogen una serie de estudios en los que se refleja los efectos del yoga en el bienestar subjetivo y la felicidad, así como en el estrés, ansiedad y depresión. Los resultados indican que el yoga tiene efectos positivos para los aspectos mencionados previamente, por tanto deberá seguir estudiándose su eficacia y validez para aceptarlo como terapia.
Yoga is an ancient discipline originating in India that works with the mind and body through physical postures, breathing techniques, relaxation, meditation, and other techniques. Because yoga is expanding worldwide and many claim its positive effects on health, this article compiles a series of studies that reflect its effects on subjective well-being and happiness, as well as on stress, anxiety, and depression. The results indicate that yoga has positive effects on the aforementioned aspects; therefore, its effectiveness and validity should be further studied before it can be accepted as a therapy.
