Childbirth is a physiological process that is influenced by different factors such as the anatomy of the pelvis, the forces of gravity and uterine contractions. Throughout history, women have adopted different positions during childbirth depending on the culture and social context of the time. Today, most women give birth in the lithotomy or supine position, although scientific evidence shows that this is not the most physiological position for this purpose.
