Aprobación de la jornada laboral de ocho horas en España y la OIT

Abstract

La lucha obrera por conseguir más derechos en el trabajo ha sido una constante durante muchos siglos y en multitud de países del mundo. Muchos de estas luchas han supuestos grandes cambios en la historia y en la normativa del derecho laboral. Por este motivo, es interesante analizar una de las grandes hazañas de las luchas obreras, la jornada de ocho horas diarias o cuarenta y ocho semanales. Aunque para el mundo se consiguió en el Convenio de Washington de 1919, en ese mismo año, España aprobaba la jornada de ocho horas unos meses antes de dicho congreso, entró en vigor en octubre de 1919. Por este motivo, es curioso analizar ambos acuerdos y como se encuentra la situación actualmente en diferentes regiones del mundo en referencia a la jornada máxima de trabajo diaria y semanal.

The labor struggle for greater rights at work has been a constant for many centuries and in many countries around the world. Many of these struggles have brought about major changes in the history and regulations of labor law. For this reason, it is interesting to analyze one of the great achievements of labor struggles: the eight-hour workday or forty-eight-hour workweek. Although it was established for the rest of the world in the Washington Convention of 1919, that same year, Spain approved the eight-hour workday a few months before the congress, and it came into effect in October 1919. For this reason, it is interesting to analyze both agreements and the current situation in different regions of the world regarding the maximum daily and weekly workday.
