Alteraciones neuropsicológicas en el trastorno límite de la personalidad: una revisión sistemática

Abstract

Diferentes estudios han demostrado la existencia de déficits neuropsicológicos presentes en el trastorno límite de la personalidad (TLP), y su relación con los síntomas psicopatológicos, pero no hay investigaciones que recojan la información de forma sistemática para posteriores intervenciones. El objetivo de esta revisión sistemática es aunar los diferentes estudios donde se realiza una evaluación neuropsicológica de los pacientes diagnosticados con TLP para poder elaborar conclusiones acerca de los déficits cognitivos que presentan. Para ello se llevó a cabo una búsqueda bibliográfica en tres diferentes bases de datos, Web of Science (WOS), PsycINFO y PubMed, donde se encontraron 17 artículos que comparaban sujetos con TLP y grupos control. Los resultados mostraron un rendimiento inferior claramente significativo de los pacientes con TLP en 6 funciones cognitivas: cognición social, reconocimiento emocional, funciones ejecutivas, atención, memoria y lenguaje. Por lo tanto, la inclusión de procesos de evaluación neuropsicológica dentro del ámbito clínico, favorecería el desarrollo y el aumento de la eficacia, en los diferentes tratamientos.

Different studies have reported neuropsychological deficits in individuals with borderline personality disorder (BPD), and their relationship to psychopathological symptoms, but there is no research that systematically collects information for further interventions. The objective of this systematic review is to combine the different studies where neuropsychological evaluation of patients diagnosed with BPD is carried out in order to get conclusions about the cognitive deficits they show. For this purpose, a bibliographic search was carried out in three different databases, Web of Science (WOS), PsycINFO and PubMed, where 17 articles were found comparing patients with BPD and control groups. The results showed a clearly significant lower performance of persons with BPD in 6 cognitive functions: social cognition, emotional recognition, executive functions, attention, memory and language. Therefore, the inclusion of neuropsychological evaluation processes within the clinical scope, would promote the development and the increase of the effectiveness, of the different treatments.
