Las diferentes lenguas de las Islas Británicas: acercamiento genético y areal

Abstract

El objetivo de este trabajo fin de grado se centra en la presentación de las diferentes lenguas que han existido, y que siguen existiendo, en las islas Británicas. Con este estudio pretendo dar a conocer la gran variedad lingüística presente en esta zona geográfica, a pesar de ser la lengua inglesa la más reconocida y expandida. Además, hay que señalar que no todas estas lenguas pertenecen a la misma familia, lo que hace que el contacto entre ellas dé lugar a características y rasgos muy interesantes. Quiero destacar la gran importancia que tiene el conservar y estudiar las diferentes lenguas propias de cada región, para así poder preservar su historia, cultura y orígenes. Como dijo Juan Donoso Cortés: “En lo pasado está la historia del futuro”.

The aim of this dissertation is focused on the presentation of the different languages that have existed, and still exist, in the British Isles. With this study, I expect to show the great linguistic variety that is present in this geographical area, despite being English the most recognised and expanded language. Moreover, it is necessary to say that all these languages do not belong to the same family, which makes that the contact among them gives rise a very interesting features. I would like to underline the great importance in preserving and studying the languages of each region in order to preserve their history, culture and, origins. As Juan Donoso Cortés said: “In the past is the history of future”.
