[EN]This master's final project studies the importance of the social values behind the teaching of a foreign culture. In order to do that, we, first, address some linguistic approaches which point out that learning a foreign culture implies being conscious of the social context- such as age, ethnicity, gender, social class, place of residence or education, among others- which characterises the different groups of people who live within a particular culture. This theoretical framework leads, then, to a didactic unit, which seeks to transmit certain socio-cultural values- such as pride, sacrifice, love, respect and tolerance- through the following iconic symbols of the United States of America and Great Britain: flags, national anthems and historic relevant people.
