Empoderamiento de la mujer en América Latina y el Caribe: mitos y realidades.

Abstract

El Índice de Desarrollo Humano de la mujer en América Latina y el Caribe, constituye una herramienta fundamental como fuente de información, para determinar el nivel de empoderamiento femenino en la región, realizando un repaso desde 1990 hasta 2018. La brecha entre hombre-mujer, es un problema mundial, más evidente en el hemisferio sur que en el norte, y es por ello que se requiere la intervención y coordinación de instituciones administrativas, financieras, políticas y ONG; porque con una actuación multidisciplinar es posible cambiar las cifras de desigualdad de género en cuanto a: salud, educación, ingresos, etc. para alcanzar una vida digna que garantice una estructura social, política y cultural más igualitaria.

The Human Development Index for women in Latin America and the Caribbean is a fundamental tool as a source of information for determining the level of female empowerment in the region, reviewing the period from 1990 to 2018. The gender gap is a global problem, more evident in the southern hemisphere than in the northern, and therefore requires the intervention and coordination of administrative, financial, political, and NGO institutions. Through multidisciplinary action, it is possible to change the gender inequality figures in terms of health, education, income, etc., to achieve a dignified life that guarantees a more egalitarian social, political, and cultural structure.
