Inteligencia emocional y personalidad como predictores del burnout de los docentes

Abstract

[ES] El objetivo principal del estudio fue analizar las relaciones entre la IE, los rasgos de personalidad y el síndrome de burnout en docentes de secundaria. Se realizó un estudio transversal en una muestra de 157 hombres y mujeres, con edades comprendidas entre 20 y 65 años, los cuales respondieron a tres cuestionarios sobre las variables del estudio:

WorkGroupEmotionalIntelligenceProfile-Shortversion (WEIP-S, Jordan&Lawrence, 2009; adaptación española de López- Zafra et al., 2012); Goldberg’s 50 Bipolar Adjective (Goldberg, 1992; adaptación española de García et al., 2004) y

Maslach Burnout Inventory; General Survey (MBI- GS, Maslach et al., 1996; versión española de Schaufeli et al., 2002). Los resultados indicaron que los docentes con más estabilidad emocional, responsabilidad e IE registran menos burnout. Además, encontramos que la IE puede predecir los niveles de burnout más allá de lo que predicen los rasgos de personalidad. Se discuten estos resultados y se establecen conclusiones a considerar en futuras investigaciones.

[EN] The main objective of the study was to analyze the relationships between EI, personality traits and burnout syndrome in secondary school teachers. A cross-sectional study was conducted in a sample of 157 male and female, aged between 20 and 65 years, who responded to three questionnaires on the study variables:

The results indicated that teachers with more emotional stability, responsibility and EI register less burnout. In addition, we have found that EI can predict burnout levels beyond that predicted by personality traits. We discuss these and draw conclusions to be considered in future research.
