Today, there are many conflicts around the world associated with various political circumstances and economic interests. These conflicts generate an important impact on the population where minors are particularly vulnerable part. Among the most drastic and devastating consequences is the problem of child refugees who, along with their families, are forced to leave their home country in pursuit of protection. The present work offers a systematic review of the scientific literature in relation to the protection and risk factors. These factors have been associated with the psychological development of the abovementioned minors. For this purpose, Bronfenbrenner’s socio-ecological model has been used as theoretical framework. Scientific knowledge of these factors, as well as their impact on children, is essential in the development of research and interventions since they aim to minimise the impact of this type of situations.
